Cleaners have to make the pages look pretty and get rid of the text on the raw as white as possible but making it still look natural, you also make the page look right so on black and white manga using levels you make the blacks black and the whites white whilst maintaining the greys. This can take a bit of time as it initials redrawing but how hard it is depends in every manga. Also you can choose to only do basic redrawing and get a more experienced member to do the rest of that. On average cleaning can take up some time but it’s fun and no one expects you to finish right away, the best jobs sometimes take a bit of time.

Translators look at the raws in whatever languages they are translating from and put that into a script format, turning the text into English you also have to translate the SFX, if you know the language well this would be good and don’t be worried about making spelling mistakes and such because proofreaders will correct the mistakes, this can take anything from a day to a week depending on how much text is on the manga, how confident you are and how much free time you have. As long as you have free time you could take this slow because you will have to wait a while for the next chapter to get started on so you can get ahead and then be able to leave it for a few days.

Typesetters look at the scripts and put the text in the right place, you have to make sure that you use the right font and that it is in the centre. You also have to make sure the SFX looks right and is in context so for "shiver" you could make the SFX wavy. Also depending on the manga you might have to put titles on to the page. You need time to do this but it doesn’t take up as much time as cleaning would in most cases it also depends on how many pages there are and how much text is on the pages, but as long as you have a moderate amount of time this would be a good job for you.

Editors typeset and clean and again redrawing comes in to this, they have a lot of variety because you can put yourself down for a project anywhere in the spectrum although this can take a lot of time depending on what you choose to do for a project. The roles are explained more in the typesetter and cleaner bits.

Tests will be the typesetter and cleaning tests. :)

Proofreaders get the script off the translators and they have to correct their grammar and spelling but it’s not just that as the proofreader also has to make sure that the text makes sense and flow, so there is no confusion, whilst still maintaining the original meaning of the text, you could look at the raws to guide you if the text doesn’t make a lot of sense or you can always ask another translator on a sentence if needs be.

If you want to apply for any one or multiple positions which includes just redrawing, just send us an email which will be shown in the about page. You can wait for a reply and then send the tests you can also send them off straight away. As the tests aren’t done yet send some examples or just explain why you want to work for this group. Have fun we hope to hear from you.
